TO PROMOTE INTEREST IN ICE SPORTS BY DISSEMINATING INFORMATION REGARDING ICE SPORTS; TO PROMOTE AND SPONSOR EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING PROGRAMS IN ICE SPORTS; TO PROMOTE, SPONSOR AND CONDUCT ICE SPORTS COMPETITIONS TO ASSIST ATHLETES IN DEVELOPING THEIR SKILLS; TO ESTABLISH, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN AN ICE ARENA AND THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT FOR SAME; AND TO CONDUCT SUCH OTHER ACTIVITIES IN FURTHERANCE OF THESE PURPOSES.

DURING THE 2018-19 SEASON, MORE THAN 16,000 VISITORS CAME TO THE RINK FOR PUBLIC SKATING, ONE OF MANY PROGRAMS WE OFFER IN ADDITION TO RENTING ICE TIME. THE RINK OFFERED PUBLIC SKATING FOUR TIMES EACH WEEKEND, EVERY TIME THE SCHOOLS HAD A DAY OFF, AND ON ALL HOLIDAYS, INCLUDING NEW YEAR'S EVE. THE NUMBERS RANGED FROM 50-450 PEOPLE OF ALL AGES FOR EACH PUBLIC SKATE. THE PROGRAMS OFFERED WERE: LEARN TO SKATE FOR ALL AGES AND BEGINNER HOCKEY AND A YOUTH HOCKEY LEAGUE. THERE WERE TWO MEN'S LEAGUES WITH MORE THAN 26 TEAMS (14 IN ONE AND 12 IN THE OTHER LEAGUE). IN ADDITION, THE RINK HAD SOLD OUT ICE TIME TO USER GROUPS FROM ALL OVER THE SOUTHTOWNS. FOR OPEN SKATE AND TOURNAMENTS, SKATERS CAME FROM MANY U.S. CITIES, CANADIAN PROVINCES, AND OTHER COUNTRIES. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O).THE 2018-19 SKATING SEASON OPENED ON OCTOBER 13, 2018 AND CLOSED ON MARCH 24, 2019. ICE TIMES WERE BOOKED AT NEAR 95% CAPACITY DURING THE SEASON WITH A DIVERSE MIX OF PROGRAMMING AND PATRONS. AN ESTIMATED 130,000 VISITORS UTILIZED THE RINK THIS PAST ICE SEASON. PUBLIC SKATING SESSIONS REMAIN ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR ACTIVITIES AT THE RINK. WEEKEND SESSIONS AVERAGED 250+ SKATERS, MOSTLY TEENAGERS, AND A TOTAL OF 16,374 ATTENDED OVER THE SEASON FROM ALL OVER WNY. YOUTH HOCKEY TEAMS, INCLUDING AURORA ICE, EAST AURORA HIGH SCHOOL, IROQUOIS HIGH SCHOOL, AND A VARIETY OF HOCKEY CLUBS FROM WESTERN NEW YORK. EVERY AGE GROUP AND ABILITY, FROM TODDLERS TO TEENAGERS AND ADULTS, HAVE SKATED IN THE LEARN-TO-SKATE, HOCKEY OR OPEN SKATE SESSIONS. NEW THIS YEAR WERE TWO NHL LEARN TO PLAY SESSIONS. EACH SESSION INCLUDED 7 WEEKS OF TRAINING PROVIDED BY LOCAL PROFESSIONALS. THE SUMMER PROGRAMS INCLUDED ROLLER SKATING, PICKLEBALL, AND SEVERAL BOX LACROSSE ORGANIZATIONS (CHAMPIONS BOX LACROSSE, BUFFALO BANDITS WHEELCHAIR LACROSSE, AURORA ICE ASSOCIATION MEN'S LEAGUE, AND AURORA ICE ASSOCIATION YOUTH BOX LACROSSE). IN ADDITION THE RINK HOSTED THE EAST AURORA MUSIC FESTIVAL.
