Community based mentoring: This county-wide program provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported, safe, strong, one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring volunteer adults. Meeting on a regular and consistent basis for at least one year, matches work towards educational outcomes, changes in attitudes and competencies, aspiring towards higher aspirations and, avoidance of risky behaviors that can lead to delinquency and entry in the juvenile justice system. Matches received on-going match support coaching, skill training, assisting each mentoring relationships to grow stronger in duration.
