About this organization
Mission
Friends of Rye Nature Center (FRNC) is an independent, not-for-profit organization which offers programs to people of all ages and abilities. We encourage conservation, provide environmental education, and support our community's access to nature year-round.
About
The organization's three largest program services are conservation, education, and community access. Conservation is the heart of the organization's work. FRNC preserves, protects, and manages the 47-acre City of Rye owned forest, the Rye Nature Center, so it can be studied and enjoyed by the community. FRNC implements active land stewardship practices to maintain the ecosystems and habitats in the preserve year-round. As the leading environmental educators in the area, FRNC immerses all people into nature through hands-on learning programs. Their teachers and naturalists foster respect for and connection to the natural world to nearly 30,000 people annually. And through it's Nature Access Fund programs and traveling exhibit, NatureStation, FRNC supports the community by collaborating with other not-for-profit groups to ensure that nature is accessible to everyone. Through donor-supported scholarships and funding, FRNC provides environmental education and programming so that no one is left inside.
