Mission

Chamber Orchestra of New York is the city's premier young professionals orchestra. Founded to advance the careers of extraordinary artists, the orchestra presents works that bridge the classical and modern traditions. Internationally recognized for its championing of the Italian repertoire, the orchestra aims to cultivate a wider audience for the future of classical music.

About

The 11th anniversary concert season consisted of three Carnegie Hall performances, a performance at Adelphi University's Performing Arts Center (AUPAC), and a performance at DiMenna Center for Classical Music, with a total audience of approximately 1,150. Our audiences are comprised of 67% young adults (25-35 years old), 40% minorities, and 72% of NYC residents. Chamber Orchestra of New York's (CONY) central focus is to advance the careers of outstanding young professional musicians, composers, soloists, and conductors. The orchestra consists of fully-auditioned musicians who bring premier performances to classical music patrons. These musicians are frequently from major conservatories in the Northeast including The Curtis Institute, Eastman, Juilliard, Mannes/The New School, Manhattan School of Music, Peabody, and Yale, along with additional conservatories domestically and internationally. To-date, 17 former CONY musicians have full-time placements with major symphony orchestras and operas.
