Mission

to preserve an important new york and national landmark from further deterioration, enabling it to continue to host major art and antique shows as well as to present contemporary visual and performing arts programs uniquely suited to this eclectic site. even in the armory's current deteriorated state, its magnificent interiors by louis comfort tiffany, stanford white and other major designers of the time plunge one back into the 19th century world of new york so strongly evoked by edith wharton and henry james. in contrast, the vast column-free 55,000 square foot expanse of the drill hall evokes the most cutting edge and contemporary of art spaces: a creative world that places emphasis on flexibility and fluidity, non-traditional audience relationships and a site-specific or site-inspired approach to installations and presentations.
