About

Humanity in Action's core Programs are the Fellowship programs in Amsterdam, Atlanta, Berlin, Copenhagen, Detroit, Sarajevo, and Warsaw. These are month long educational programs for emerging leaders about the national histories and contemporary politics of pluralsim, liberal democracies and human rights in Europe and the United States. The annual programs bring together university students and young professionals from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, and the United States for an intensive series of seminars, discussions and site visits. Humanity in Action organizes two annual conferences and in 2018 all Fellows participating in the Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Sarajevo and Warsaw programs were invited to the international conference. Following the Fellowship programs each Fellow will create and implement an Action Project- an outreach initiative in their community, inspired by the Fellowship. This project serves as a multiplier and contributes to the advancement of pluralism and human rights in different communities. HIA also sponsors Professional Fellowships for Senior Fellows. In 2018, HIA sponsored 10 Professional Fellows in the offices of Members of the European Parliament, Brussels-based non-profit organizations and other U.S. based organizations. HIA provides stipends for the Fellows, as well as other program costs.HIA and its affiliate organizations host two international conferences and, in some years, additional study trips, grant competitions and other programming.
