Mission

The Chelsea Fund/People Before Profits Education Fund exists to encourage and support educational and cultural activities that promote peace, democracy and workers' rights. We aim to partner with existing community organizations and coalitions to develop original programming that fosters a deeper understanding of society today, leadership skills, new interpersonal relationships, and stronger, more focused organizations.

About

National Marxist School-- utilizing the conference facilities and library of partner organizations, the Chelsea Fund sponsors a one-week nationwide Marxist summer school and several other related educational activities, both live and on the internet. The schools bring together young people, new activists, veteran activists, veteran organizers, scholars and community leaders for intense seminars to study and discuss social, political and economic developments in the US and across the world. The purpose of these schools is to give new individuals a deeper understanding of the world around them, to help new activists deepen their skills and become better leaders, and to allow more seasoned leaders to cross-pollinate, share their ideas and gain new insights. Participants in the school go back to their communities with their newfound insights and help educate yet more people.
