Public lectures and programs: The Architectural League's public lectures and programs in FY18 presented influential established architects and designers, as well as emerging talents. Programs included the annual series Current Work (lectures and digital programming); Emerging Voices (a competition, lectures, and digital programming); Folly/Function (a design/build competition and commission); and the League Prize for Young Architects and Designers (a competition, lectures, exhibition, digital programming, and publication). [See continuation schedule O] Other programming includes: First Fridays, a series which creates opportunities for visits to leading architecture, landscape, and engineering firms; and occasions to explore special topics, such as discussions on New York's criminal justice infrastructure or trends around new cultural building. The League conceives and carries out these programs throughout the year to stimulate thinking and further the education of architects, designers, and the broader public about the significance of architecture for a rich and vital culture. Lecture attendance is nearly 15,000, with over 50,000 more experiencing content digitally.
