Mission

The Regional Plan Association is America's most distinguished urban research and advocacy organization. RPA works to improve the prosperity, infrastructure, sustainability, and quality of life of the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut metropolitan region. RPA has pursued these goals by conducting independent research, planning, advocacy, and vigorous public-engagement efforts. Since the 1920s, RPA has produced four landmark plans for the region. The Fourth Regional Plan, tackling the urgent challenges facing our region, including climate change, fiscal uncertainty, and declining economic opportunity, was published in November 2017.

About

Fourth plan - For more than 90 years, the Regional Plan Association has developed groundbreaking long-range plans to guide the growth of the New York metropolitan area. Ideas and recommendations put forth in these plans have led to the establishment of some of the region's most significant achievements in infrastructure, open space, and expansion of economic opportunity. The association is currently at work on the fourth regional plan, a multiyear initiative to craft a vision for the metropolitan region's growth, sustainability, and good governance for the next 25 years. Working with policy experts, civic leaders, and community groups, the association will propose policies and investments to ensure the region's success for all residents.
