About this organization
Mission
The mission of the Atlanta Police Foundation is to make Atlanta the safest and most inviting city for all its residents, workers and visitors.
About
*OPERATION SHIELD*Operation Shield uses technology to expand and enhance the Atlanta Police Departments public safety efforts throughout Metro Atlanta. Operation Shield employs various technology tools to complete its mission including surveillance cameras, license plate readers and ComNet radios. There are more than 11,000 cameras and license plate readers currently integrated in the Video Integration Center (VIC) a hub that allows the Atlanta Police Department to view camera footage in order to respond to incidents where cameras are present in the swiftest, most informed manner. Crime has been reduced 20-50% in areas where cameras are installed. ComNet radios allow private security teams to be continuously and directly connected with APD through a two-way, UFH radio network.
