About

To repair and rehabilitate the homes of poor, elderly and disabled homeowners who are not financially or physically able to repair their homes themselves. The work is done at no cost to the homeowner. During 2019, 166 residential projects were completed which positively impacted the lives of 251 household members including seniors and veterans. We constructed 33 wheelchair ramps providing safe access to homes for those with physical limitations. Utilizing the services of our dedicated core of volunteers, as well as embracing volunteers from our surrounding communities, our clients were the beneficiaries of 6,322 hours of donated service at a value of $190,797.96 (based on the Independent Sector's 2018 value of volunteer labor in NY of $30.18). This is in addition to the 7,921 hours of donated construction services with an estimated value of $242,593. Together with the National Center for Healthy Housing, the Rebuilding Together Network has identified 25 safe and healthy home priorities that can be used to identify safety and health-related issues at each home and also to measure the improvements related to health and safety resulting from our work. Our volunteers identified and corrected 1,195 hazards and installed 73 smoke detectors to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients.
