Mission

The Worker Rights Consortium (WRC) is an independent labor rights monitoring organization. We investigate working conditions in factories around the globe. Our purpose is to document and combat sweatshop conditions; identify and expose the practices of global brands and retailers that perpetuate labor rights abuses; and protect the rights of workers who make apparel and other products. The WRC conducts independent, worker-centered investigations; issues public reports on factories producing for major brands; and aids workers at these factories in their efforts to end violations and defend their workplace rights.

About

Worker Rights Consortium, Inc. (WRC) was founded in October 2000 for the purpose of enforcing manufacturing codes of conduct adopted by its 175 affiliate colleges and universities in order to promote better working conditions in the production of their licensed apparel and work broadly to promote respect for the rights of workers in global supply chains. WRC works to protect the rights of workers making apparel and other goods, primarily at factories associated with its affiliate educational institutions and other organizational partners. WRC assesses code of conduct compliance, identifies violations, and promotes remediation at numerous production facilities around the world, while also working to promote better labor practices throughout the broader apparel industry and in other manufacturing sectors. WRC's efforts have helped thousands of workers improve their working conditions, wages, and respect for the fundamental workplace rights.
