Mission

Buddy Dog Humane Society was founded in 1961 by Harry Rice and other area residents. The Society's objective was to take unwanted dogs and place them into new homes. Any animal seeking refuge at its shelter back then in N. Sudbury was never euthanized. In 1976 the new facility opened on Boston Post Road and cats were also accommodated. Today the Buddy Dog Humane Society still exists by the same principals: that for all animals coming into its care, all animals stay until adopted. The Society operates entirely on donations.
