The ongoing fires across California, particularly in LA, are actively destroying homes, and destroying people's livelihoods.

Many organizations are responding. Among them are the Red Cross, bringing emergency shelter, food, and other resources, while the California Fire Foundation is supporting firefighters and their families with emergency resources, the LA Regional Food Bank is ensuring people have access to safe food, and Direct relief is supporting a wide range of existing organizations, and sending humanitarian aid. Habitat for Humanity is monitoring the situation of lost homes, and will be helping families get back on their feet, with repairs to damaged houses, and creating new housing after the fires eventually burn out.

These fires have been devastating to the lives of so many people, and we need to help those affected, those fighting the fires on the front lines, and the organizations providing aid to these communities going forward. They'll need it.

    My family lives in Pasadena. Their home was luckily spared, but their lovely neighbors only blocks away in Altadena were not so lucky. Some of that misfortune simply came down to the hard working fire fighters and their resources being stretched too thin. This hopefully goes towards helping those first responders get the resources they need to prevent such devastation in the future.
