In Jewish tradition, the number 18, or "Chai," holds a significant meaning. It symbolizes "life," making it a lucky number for giving. At Daffy, we understand the importance of cultural nuances in giving, and we strive to incorporate these insights into our service.
Recently, we received feedback that our minimum donation amount did not allow for the culturally desirable gift of $18. We saw this as an opportunity to better understand our product and the people who use it. So, we decided to delve deeper into how we could leverage insights from different communities to encourage our members to give and educate others about their giving traditions.
Just in time for the Jewish High Holy Days, we are proud to announce that we have incorporated the tradition of Chai into our service. Now, Daffy members can give multiples of $18, $180, and $1800 to Jewish charities. To make this process easier and more engaging, we have added helpful buttons and prompts explaining the significance of these amounts.
This new feature not only makes it easier for our Jewish members to give but also educates and encourages our non-Jewish members when they give to Jewish organizations. We believe that by understanding and honoring different giving traditions, we can inspire and educate each other to be more generous, more often.
At Daffy, we are more than just a financial service. We are a community based on a simple idea - a vision of a world where everyone sets aside money regularly for those less fortunate. We bring together people from a wide variety of cultures and experiences, and we hope to learn from each other about how and why we give to the causes and organizations we care about.
If you have a special tradition in your religion, community, or family, we’d love for you to share it with us. Let’s inspire each other to be more generous, more often. Chag Sameach (Happy Holiday!)
