| Mission | Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, housing program dedicated to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people from all walks of life to work together in partnership, building homes is partnership with low-income people who want a hand-up, not a hand-out. Low-income households who apply to our home loan program, have a need for improved housing, the ability to pay a no-interest mortgage, and commit to contribute 500 hours of sweat equity (work) on homes, home ownership education and other Habitat projects. In addition to our home-ownership program, we can assist low-income home-owners with exterior repairs, such as roof re-shingling, window caulking, sidewalk repair, etc. |
