About this organization
Mission
Carbon180's mission is to design and champion equitable, science-based policies that bring carbon removal solutions to gigaton scale.
About
Carbon180 is a new breed of climate NGO on a mission to reverse two centuries of carbon emissions. The truth is, climate change can’t be fully addressed without removing legacy carbon from the atmosphere. We're building the people and policy foundation we need for an equitable and just carbon removing world. To achieve that vision, our work spans from advocacy at the highest levels of government to engagement on the ground with local communities. At the center of this work are three critical and connected domains: policy, science and innovation, and environmental justice. Policy: We help policymakers and community stakeholders connect to find common ground, fill in research gaps, leverage policy opportunities, and remove barriers to carbon removal's success. Science and innovation: We incubate and enable the ideas and infrastructure that will make this work possible alongside the scientists, startups, and innovators who are pushing this field forward. Environmental justice: We weave justice into everything we do and at every stage of engagement. In doing so, our goal is to build a field for equitable climate action that breaks the cycle of injustice and extraction perpetuated by fossil fuels. It also ensures the local participation and benefits that will create the most effective possible champions for continued and future carbon removal policies - constituents.
