CULINARY PROGRAM - THE OPEN GATE INTERNATIONAL CULINARY PROGRAM TEACHES STUDENTS A VARIETY OF CULINARY TECHNIQUES OVER 8 WEEKS, PREPARING THE STUDENT FOR ENTRY INTO AN ENTRY-LEVEL POSITION IN ANY FOOD SERVICE ESTABLISHMENT ACROSS THE COUNTRY. CURRICULUM INCLUDES SERVSAFE CERTIFICATION FROM THE NATIONAL RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION - A MANDATORY CERTIFICATE FOR ALL FOOD SERVICE ESTABLISHMENTS. GRADUATES ALSO RECEIVE JOB SEEKING SKILLS AND JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE. CLASSWORK INCLUDES A DAILY LECTURE FOLLOWED BY HANDS-ON TRAINING. TRAINING INCLUDES KNIFE SKILLS, STOCKS AND SOUPS, SAUCES, FRUITS, STIR FRY, SALADS FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, HERBS AND SPICES, FRESH PASTA, POTATOES, BREAD AND GRAINS, MEATS, FISH, CHICKEN AND POULTRY, PASTRY AND DESSERTS, PLATE PRESENTATION, RECIPES, MENUS AND QUALITY CONTROL, TOOL/EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION, JOB-SEEKING SKILLS, AS WELL AS LIFE SKILLS. LIFE SKILLS INCLUDE HOW TO HAVE A CONSISTENTLY POSITIVE ATTITUDE, ENTHUSIASM, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, BEING A GOOD TEAM PLAYER, DETERMINATION, EXCELLENCE IN THE WORKPLACE, INTEGRITY, TEACH-ABILITY, HONOR, COMMITMENT, UTILIZING YOUR STRENGTHS, MOVING PAST YOUR PAST AND MOTIVES VS.
