Ohel Children’s Home and Family Services was founded in 1969 to provide foster care placement for Jewish families. Since then, it has grown into a full-service agency that meets the social and emotional needs of more than 23,000 individuals from all communities. Ohel is the Hebrew word for tent. According to Jewish tradition, Abraham and Sarah lived in a tent that was open on all four sides to welcome travelers from all directions. They provided an oasis of nourishment and care in the ancient desert of Canaan. Like Abraham and Sarah’s tent, our doors are open to everyone who needs the support and care we provide.
